The tomato is one of my favourite fruits. I have been going to the farmers market at blackheath on a sunday for a while now. There is a stall there at sells awesome tomatoes, really delicious. They are left on the vine untill they are ripe by the grower, allowing the natural sugars to develop, this is the secret to the best tasting and most nutritious tomatoes. I have had from this stall, some of the best tomatoes that i can remember having! Over the course of a week, they go a deeper red colour, and go quite soft, becoming even sweeter, with a real full on savoury tomato flavour, i feel like i am getting real benefit from eating these.
Now that i am just eating raw foods, i can feel just how special these tomatoes are, they really are quite addictive!
When i can afford it, i like to buy lots of them, and have a week long ripe and raw tomato party!

I quite like this mantra that is being used in raw vegan, fruitarian circles…”If the fruit is not delicious, it is not nutritious” This makes so much sense to me, and i have had some insight while contemplating this mantra. The tastebuds are not just some sort of sense to discover weather we like something or not, but rather a pre-digestion sense, if the tastebuds taste the quality of the ripeness, the sweetness, then the brain knows this is real nutrition, if it is not ripe and sweet, then it will have no real nutrition, and is best not eaten, because it will just be a waste of time and energy digesting it. This makes me try to seek out the quality fruits if i can find them, not always easy in London, so its a week to week thing of me, but it is quite interesting not quite knowing what i am going to get, which does bring me more into the present moment, and my old life of cooked food was always available, all year round, and on reflection, it was quite dull and boring, so, i am ultra grateful now to be on the raw life-style, it does feel like a direct physical experience of god/goddess/universal energy!
